AWQ-8/32-MP Split In-Line Pie Connector

The AWQ-8/32-MP is a SubConn Compatible wet-mate split (pie-wedge) in-line connector with 8 power and 32 signal contacts in 8 pie-slice sectors (4 contacts per sector) — 40 circuits in a compact body. The multi-piece (MP) in-line design connects two cable runs directly for mid-tether junctions, tether terminations and sensor pod connections on ROV systems.

40 Contacts 8 Power + 32 Signal 600 bar Mated / 6,000 m Split Body Field Installable Wet-Mate SubConn Compatible

Key Design Features

  • Split-body field installation: the connector body is manufactured in halves that separate along a split line, so it can be installed around an already-wired cable bundle — no need to thread the cable through or take the system out of service.
  • Combined power and signal: power and signal contacts are physically segregated within the body, providing inherent EMI shielding and eliminating multiple separate connectors on multi-function umbilicals.
  • High contact density: 28/40/49 circuits in a body comparable in diameter to a standard 8–12 pin circular connector.
  • Work-class depth: pressure tested to 600 bar mated (approx. 6,000 m); every connector is pressure-tested before shipment.
  • Wet-mateable: lubricate with Molykote 44 Medium (or equivalent) before every mating; disconnect by pulling straight.
  • SubConn Compatible: split-series mating interface matching the SubConn Compatible ecosystem.

Mating & Compatibility

ParameterSpecification

Typical Applications

ROV and AUV systems, underwater video / camera / lighting systems, diving equipment, sonar systems, oil rig and offshore oil & gas and renewable energy applications, oceanographic systems and equipment.

Notes for Selection

Connectors must be lubricated prior to mating — Molykote 44 Medium or equivalent, applied to minimum 1/10 socket depth on the female face before every mating. Disconnect by pulling straight, not at an angle; do not pull on the cable and avoid sharp bends at the cable entry. Locking sleeves are not standard and must be ordered separately (Polyacetal or stainless steel); when using a bulkhead connector, ensure there are no angular loads, and apply the recommended torque when tightening bulkhead nuts.

Custom configurations available Non-standard pin configurations, titanium shells, customised harness cables and certified pressure test reports to specific ocean depths can be specified to order. Send us your drawing or contact requirement for a quotation.
